Crystal Palace Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Crystal Palace Man and Van has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Crystal Palace Man and Van has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to every aspect of our business, from direct employment to our relationships with suppliers, contractors, and other partners involved in our removals and transport services. We will not knowingly work with any organisation that is involved in, or fails to take adequate steps to prevent, modern slavery in its own operations or supply chains. Any suspected breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of contracts or working relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
We provide man and van, removals, and associated transport services to residential and commercial customers. Our supply chains include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, packaging and equipment suppliers, and occasional use of subcontracted labour or specialist services. We recognise that some of these areas can present higher risks of labour exploitation, particularly where temporary labour, transport, or cross-border supply chains are involved. As such, we have increased our focus on due diligence and ongoing monitoring in these areas.
Policies and Governance
Our anti-slavery position is embedded within our wider commitment to ethical business conduct, fair treatment of workers, and compliance with applicable laws. Key internal policies that support this commitment include recruitment and right to work checks, fair pay and working conditions, health and safety practices, and conduct and grievance procedures. All managers are required to understand the risks of modern slavery and to apply these policies consistently across their teams, ensuring that everyone who works for or with us is treated with dignity and respect.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We expect all our suppliers and contractors to share our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery. As part of our supplier onboarding process, we assess the risk profile of new suppliers and request information on their own labour practices and modern slavery controls. For higher-risk suppliers, we may carry out further due diligence, including requesting documented policies or evidence of training and compliance.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or site visits, either directly or through third parties, to verify that suppliers are meeting our standards. Where issues are identified, we work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timescales for implementation. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to address our concerns, we may reconsider the relationship or seek alternative providers.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Crystal Palace Man and Van encourages all employees, contractors, and suppliers to speak up if they have concerns about potential modern slavery or human trafficking in our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised through normal management channels or directly to senior management, and they will be treated seriously, sensitively, and, where possible, confidentially.
We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. All reports are investigated promptly, and appropriate action is taken where issues are substantiated, which may include involving law enforcement or relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in supplier management, recruitment, and day-to-day operations. Training and guidance are provided so that staff can recognise warning signs, understand how to report concerns, and appreciate their role in helping us uphold our zero-tolerance approach.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing commitment and requires continuous improvement. We regularly monitor our practices and emerging risks in our sector and adjust our processes where necessary. This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice.
Following each annual review, we will consider any incidents reported, feedback from staff and suppliers, and changes in our operations or supply chains. Where improvements are identified, we will update our policies, training, and due diligence procedures to strengthen our safeguards against modern slavery and human trafficking.
